Technical / Health & Safety
Health & Safety trustee; member of the Engineering and Technical Committee
After studying engineering in Cardiff I joined the Department of Trade and Industry where I held a variety of posts. In 2007 I took up a post in the Office for Nuclear Development as part of the team responsible for facilitating the construction of a new generation of nuclear power stations.
I first volunteered at the Museum in 1991 and became a trustee in 2000. I am generally to be found either driving the engines at weekends or tackling the never ending list of engine and plant maintenance tasks. I led the project to restore the Bull Engine to working order, including securing grants from both HLF and PRISM. I am a keen traveller, preferably by rail, and have made many trips abroad to seek out working steam in such places as China, India and Java.
